Founder- Jerry O. Roberg

About the Founder
The vision for RESCUE RODS nostalgia donation program was a dream of Jerry O. Roberg several years ago while he was the President/CEO of the Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA) a non-profit ministry headquartered in Ventura County California serving Ventura County, and the San Fernando Valley. During Jerry’s tenure at R.M.A. he opened and operated two auto donation center locations, and four thrift store locations. His understanding of the thrift store business, along with his sales and marketing background brings a unique blend to RESCUE RODS and experience in operating non-profit business enterprises. His passion for racing started as a child when he raced in the Soap Box Derby in Des Moines, Iowa in 1949. Roberg’s passion for hot rods goes back to the 1950’s when he bought his first Hot Rod, a 1941 (Chevy coupe) with a “Jimmy” straight six motor in it. In 1962 Roberg went to work selling cars, (Pontiac’s) for Gianera Pontiac in La Crescenta, California. Within four years, Jerry became the number one salesman in the eleven western states for Pontiac Motor Division. From 1962 to 1982 he worked as salesman, fleet salesman, new car sales manager, and finally worked his way up to G.M. and also had his own used car operation in V.M.L.N. His love for HOT RODS along with some 20 years of auto experience makes him a good candidate and qualified to have the oversight of this new “RESCUE RODS” project.

Jerry is willing to act as a consultant, advisor, and mentor for the RESCUE RODS start-up operation.

VEHICLE MULTIPLE LISTING NETWORK

In 1985 Roberg had an innovative idea, to develop a computerized vehicle listing service called “Vehicle Multiple Listing Network (V.M.L.N.).” This computerized listing service provided auto dealers in Ventura County and L.A. Counties to connect to V.M.L.N. clients. This service was available to auto dealers as well as to the public and connected retail buyer’s to auto dealers inventory, as well as to private party sellers. It provided access via a computer, over a modem to the V.L.M.N. data-base inventory, and provided a vehicle appraisal services, along with a custoer referrals service to the auto dealers.
